The story of Carthusia fragrances goes back to 1948 when the prior of the monastery, Certosa di San Giacomo, discovered some ancient perfume formulae from the 14th century.

After obtaining the Pope’s permission, the prior presented the formulae to a fellow chemist from Piemonte, with whom he laid the foundations of one of the smallest perfume laboratories in the world.

All stages of production are carried out by hand to guarantee the accurate application of traditional methods of luxury perfumery.

All Carthusia perfumes are handmade with natural raw materials of the highest quality. Even the finished products are packaged by hand.
